The Tobacco Leaf Exporters Association of Zimbabwe (TLEAZ) is a non-profit organization that represents the interests of Zimbabwe's major tobacco exporters. It was founded in 2018 to promote the interests of the industry and to ensure that the Zimbabwean tobacco industry remains competitive and sustainable.

In addition, the TLEAZ also advocates for the interests of the Zimbabwean tobacco industry at the national and international levels. The association works to ensure that the tobacco industry is treated fairly and that its interests are taken into account when government policies are being developed.

The TLEAZ has made significant contributions to the socio-economic development of Zimbabwe. Some of its key socio-economic efforts include:

  • Promoting sustainable tobacco production: The TLEAZ has been working closely with the government and other stakeholders to develop and implement policies that promote sustainable tobacco production. This includes promoting good agricultural practices, such as crop rotation and soil conservation, as well as reducing the environmental impact of tobacco production.
  • Addressing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues: The TLEAZ is committed to addressing ESG issues in the tobacco sector. This includes promoting gender equality and women's empowerment, supporting youth development programs, and promoting environmental protection and conservation.
  • Supporting small-scale tobacco farmers: The TLEAZ provides support to small-scale tobacco farmers through a variety of programs and initiatives. This includes providing access to training and resources, as well as helping farmers to market their tobacco.
  • Creating jobs and generating income for rural communities: The tobacco industry is a major employer in Zimbabwe, and the TLEAZ plays a key role in supporting jobs and generating income for rural communities. The association's members are responsible for exporting the majority of Zimbabwe's tobacco, which generates significant foreign currency earnings for the country.
  • Contributing to the country's tax revenue: The tobacco industry is a major contributor to the Zimbabwean government's tax revenue. The TLEAZ's members pay significant taxes on their tobacco exports, which helps to fund essential government services such as education and healthcare.
  • Supporting social development programs in rural communities: The TLEAZ supports a variety of social development programs in rural communities, including programs in the areas of education, healthcare, and water and sanitation. The association also supports programs that promote gender equality and women's empowerment, as well as youth development programs.
